As part of efforts at ensuring effective, efficient and sustainable distribution of potable water to communities in Ekiti State, the State
Government has established an Inter-Ministerial Committee on Water Resources Management.
Members of the Committee who were carefully selected from government ministries, departments and agencies have the mandate to ensure effective coordination, control and management of water resources.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti during the inauguration of the Committee, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Mr. Foluso Daramola who is also the Committee Chairman, said that the committee would in addition handle issues relating to usage of water in the area of domestics, industrial, agricultural, recreation and tourism use.
Mr. Daramola explained that the committee was set up to ensure sustainable supply of potable water in the state, stressing that it was in line with the 8 point agenda of the Fayemi led administration. He added that the Committee is also expected to facilitate advocacy to government on water related issues.
The Chairman enjoined members of the Committee to handle the assignment with all the seriousness it deserved.
In his remarks, one of the committee members, the General Manager, Ekiti State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (EKRUWASSA), Mr. Toba Anise lauded the efforts of government at tacking problems confronting supply of potable water in the state.
Mr. Anise pledged on behalf of the other members of the Committee to handle the assignment with every sense of responsibility.
