Ekiti State House of Assembly has warned Local Governments officials that had issues to clear in the year 2010 report of the Local
Government Auditor General to clear all the outstanding issues or face the wrath of law.
The Chairman of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts, Hon. Orisalade Adetunji, gave this warning in Ado Ekiti during an oversight exercise with officials of the sixteen local governments at the Assembly Complex.
Hon. Orisalade who is also the Deputy Speaker of the House, condemned the nonchalant attitude of council officials to audit reports,
stressing that his committee would treat the 2010 audit queries and domestic reports with all the seriousness they deserved.
He stated that the present Assembly will not allow queries to be treated with levity and promised that whoever found to have misappropriated Public funds would be made to return same to Government’s coffers.
While stating that the Assembly will adequately play its role at ensuring fiscal discipline at the grassroots, the public Account Committee Chairman implore and past and present council officials that had queries attached to their personalities to cooperate with the Assembly in clearing the backlogs of Audit reports in the State.
