German Consul General Promises Improved Ties With EKSG

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi; with visiting Consul General, Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Walter Von Den Driesch, during a business Dinner with the Governor, in Ado-Ekiti.

The Consul General of the Republic of Germany in Nigeria, Mr. Walter Von den Driesch, has stressed the readiness of the German Government to collaborate with the Ekiti State Government in the areas of youth empowerment and employment generation.
The Consul General who dropped the hint during a meeting with some stakeholders in Ado Ekiti, described the State as suitable for investment.
He lauded the Dr Kayode Fayemi administration for providing an enabling environment for development through its Eight-Point Agenda.
Mr. Von den Driesch stated his readiness to influence private organisations in Germany to work with the state government towards the empowerment of the people of the state. Specifically, the Consul General  showed interest in offering his assistance towards providing training for undergraduates of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Ekiti State University, Ado- Ekiti,  to make them job providers rather than job seekers.

Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation, Mr. Kola Ajumobi, who intimated the Consul General with the  developmental strides of the administration , particularly in the areas  of infrastructure development , provision of qualitative health  and education as well as  poverty eradication, also highlighted the positive effects of the 8 – point agenda of the government.
He noted that the state government was also committed to  the provision of enabling environment for investments to thrive through the construction of durable roads  and provision of potable water as well as adequate security for the citizenry.
At the Ekiti State University, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Oladipo Aina stressed that the visit of the Consul General will further improve the drive of the Institution towards making the University a centre of excellence He noted that the University is working on providing an auto-mechanic workshop to train students in related fields in order to make them employers of labour after their course of study.

During a visit to the Ikogosi Resort , the Consul General described Ekiti as peaceful state with vast natural endowment. He said that the efforts of the Fayemi administration to develop the tourist attractions in the state to international standard was  quite commendable.
He noted that the  Ikogosi Resort  was hitherto unsung, adding that the impression he had before the visit was that the warm spring was just water oozing out of a hole.
The diplomat said that he was pleasantly surprised at the sight of warm and cold springs flowing side by side with each maintaining its thermal identity as well as the efforts of the government to develop the centre to international standard.
He emphasised that no stone should be left unturned towards showcasing the divine natural wonder to the world.
