The leadership of the communities in Ekiti State that were recently granted autonomy have lauded the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi for the official recognition accorded them after decades of struggle.
In separate letters addressed to Governor Fayemi, the communities commended the governor for his courage in taking the decision to make their dreams for official recognition a reality.
Three of the communities ; Orun-Ekiti, Omuooke-Ekiti and Ejiyan-Ekiti, in separate letters of appreciation to the Governor pledged their support for the Fayemi administration’s drive to turn the fortunes of the state around.
The Olorun of Orun-Ekiti, Oba Oluwasola Osalusi, said all the indigenes of the community have adopted Fayemi for a second term in office in the 2014 election.
The monarch of the community which received autonomy out of Igbemo-Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area, described the gesture as “historic” saying his people will remain grateful to Fayemi and fully support his second term bid.
The people of Omuooke now independent of Omuo-Ekiti in Ekiti East Local Government Area thanked Fayemi for “putting a permanent solution to the problems tormenting them for years”.
In a letter on behalf of the Olomuooke, Oba Valentine Otitoju, signed by Omuooke Development Association Chairman, Chief J.B. Adewumi and Secretary, Hon. G.A. Oni described Fayemi “kind-hearted, committed and firm.”
“Only a governor who is a lover of justice can appreciate the feelings of an oppressed community like Omuooke but we thank God for giving us a governor like you” the letter read in part.
The Ejiyan Development Council in another letter to the governor said the autonomy and recognition granted Ejiyan-Ekiti has made the community acceptable again among recognized towns in Ekiti land. In the letter signed by the Obaalaye of Ejiyan and other nine community leaders said the people will pay Fayemi back with votes in future election in appreciation of the gesture.
“We as a homogeneous community promise never to shake in the faith that we have in you, there is coming a payback day in which we shall never fail you.
“We were with you during the rerun election, you can attest to this, now that you have paid us back, we are aware of your ambition which shall not be thwarted in Jesus’ name.
“Please, our amiable governor, ride on, no man shall be able to scuttle your ambition”, the letter read in part.
