L-R: Head of Department, Administration and Industrial Relations, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja; National President, NLC, Comrade Ibrahim Umar; Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi; and National Deputy President, NLC, Comrade Promise Adewusi, during a working visit by the Labour Leaders to the Governor, in Ado-Ekiti.

The leaderships of the two main labour unions in Nigeria, Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have lauded the performance of the Dr. Kayode Fayemi administration in Ekiti State; describing it is an example of governance that the nation needs.

The two Unions gave this endorsement in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State Capital, on Monday during their courtesy calls on the Governor ahead of their different Union assignments in the State.

The President of NLC, Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar, commended Fayemi for repositioning the State for the greater future ; saying this is evident in his performance in the State.

While comparing the Governor to his colleague in Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, Omar said the duo have shown purposeful leadership by first drawing a plan with which they are now transforming their States.   He said that the country will get better with more leaders who are creative and have passion for development.

Also speaking , the TUC President, Mr Peter Esele said he was surprised that Ado Ekiti, the State capital as well as other towns have witnessed tremendous transformations within the last two years of Fayemi’s administration.

Esele said his commendation on the Governor’s performance is neither flattery nor a song of sycophancy as Fayemi’s efforts are glaring, adding that the developmental strides of the governor are evident in many areas.

He added that he does not expect less than good performance from Fayemi who was an activist; urging him not to relent in keeping the flag flying.

“I did drive round town yesterday and saw so many changes. I have said that you have no options but to perform. As an activist, you have lived up to expectation but we at TUC don’t want you to relent but continue the good works”, he said.

While assuring the Governor of support from the labour union, the TUC leader said Union and Government have a common goal of ensuring good governance and welfare of the people and urged Fayemi not to see any criticism from any labour union as subversive but as a means of strengthening his government.
