ICT ‘ll Help Build An Accountable System – Fayemi

As Ekiti State Government and world info-technology giant, International Business Machines (IBM) start a partnership on achieving the goal of the Administration on e-school and e-governance, the State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has said that effective application of Information Communication Technology will help the state build a more accountable system.

The Governor stated this in Ado Ekiti while receiving the IBM team of ICT experts in his office; stressing that Ekiti could be a model for the Smart Planet planned by the info-tech company.

Governor Fayemi who restated the vision of his administration to eradicate poverty from the State, stated that the government intends to exploit the human capital which it is known for in order to create a society that everyone will be proud of.
On making the State University a model for e-learning, the Governor said the merger of three universities into the present one is aimed at making Ekiti State University (EKSU) a centre of excellence which Ekiti is known for in the education sector.

Fayemi who added that the Social welfare programme of the administration would soon go electronic in order to make it easier for the elderly citizens to access their money and plug leakages, urged IBM to come up with a smart card that could be useful for the scheme.
Earlier the IBM team leader, Mrs. Remi Abere described Ekiti as a perfect destination for the IBM’s ICT project, adding that the efforts of the government in using technology to drive development was commendable.

She added that the presence of the IBM team of expert in the state for the next one month would impact positively on the state’s technological  drive.
