Fayemi Charges New Commissioners, Advisers On Delivery

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has sworn in 19 new Commissioners and 11 Special Advisers, with a warning that they may be relived of their appointments if they fail to perform in line with the set goals of the administration.

The Governor who compared the reconstituted cabinet to a football team stressed that anyone discovered to be tired along the way would be replaced from the available pool of substitutes to ensure the sustenance of strength and vitality to coast home victory on the agenda to transform the State.

Dr. Fayemi said the onus is on the new appointees to prove to Ekiti people that they have the stamina and strategy to deliver the dividends of democracy to the masses on whose goodwill the administration rode to power.

“I however wish to reiterate that from now, there will not be any dull moment. Now that we are in the second half of the game we must tackle more ruggedly without breaking the rules of the game but shoot straight to the net with determination and dignified focus”, he said.

The Governor charged them to see their appointments and re-appointment as a call to service and not mere honorifics of expanding ones’ curriculum vitae; saying that they must take full advantage of their past experiences to be more strategic, innovative and purposeful in accelerating speed for spectacular performances.

Fayemi added that the lessons of the first half must not be lost on them as the new entrants must bring freshness to governance as regards people driven and development focused policy formations in the general interest of the people.

While emphasizing the zero-tolerance of this administration to corruption and fraudulent practices, Fayemi charged them to live above board in their dealings and be cautious of the implications and consequences of breaching the laws of the land under the guise of public function; stressing that anyone caught will face the music.
The Governor stated with confidence that no member of his cabinet has been arrested on corruption charges because the hallmark of the administration is transparency.

He also warned against abandoning the people in their various localities but rather interact with them regularly and educate them fully on the programmes and policies of government.

Meanwhile the Governor has changed the Ministry of Commerce and Industries to the Ministry of Trades, Investment and Innovations.

The gesture, Fayemi said, is to fast-tract investment and economic development in thee State as he stated that the harvest is full and all hands must be on deck for the industrial development of the State.

He stated that his administration has delivered in the past two years and will continue to deliver for the transformation of the State.

In her remarks, Chief Ronke Okusanya who spoke on behalf of the  appointees promised that they would work hard to actualise the vision of the Fayemi-led administration.
