Clean Environment, A Must – Environment Commissioner

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Eniola Ajayi has said that she would leave no stone unturned towards ensuring a clean environment in the state.
Dr. Ajayi gave the assurance while inspecting some of the on-going flood and erosion control projects in Ado-Ekiti.

The Commissioner explained that government will continue to sensitize the people on the importance of a clean environment and ensure they make judicious use of waste bins put at strategic places in Ado metropolis.

Stressing that anybody caught contravening environmental laws in the state would be severely sanctioned; Ajayi said that the main focus is to ensure a clean and healthy environment.
Dr. Ajayi who expressed satisfaction with the on-going flood and erosion control project at Moferere/Embassy/Mercy waterway, urged the people living in the area to stop dumping refuse in the drainage channel, stressing that blockage of the canal could also lead to flooding.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the State Waste Management Board, Chief Adebayo Morakinyo explained that efforts are on to commence re-cycling waste into more useful materials, adding that products of the two compost plants in the state would soon be in the markets.
