Ekiti State Government has reiterated its determination to transform the Ekiti State University into a world class ivory tower.
Speaking in Ado-Ekiti while playing host to members of the Governing Council of the University led by the Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Jide Osuntokun, the State Commissioner for Education and Technology, Mr. Kehinde Ojo stressed that the Fayemi led administration was passionate about the development of the education sector.
According to Mr. Ojo, the appointment of seasoned technocrats in key positions in the education sector including the University Governing Council was an indication of the genuine intention of the administration to improve the lots of the people.
The Commissioner who was also a member of the University Governing Council before his appointment promised to justify the confidence reposed in him with the appointment by doing his utmost best to lift the education sector in the state to an enviable height.
Earlier, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Jide Osuntokun applauded Governor Fayemi for appointing those he described as right calibre of people to serve in his government.
Prof. Osuntokun appealed to the Commissioner to use his good office to ensure the completion of all on-going projects particularly those at the college of medicine, adding that the gesture would facilitate the full accreditation of the college.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of EKSU, Prof. Dipo Aina who said that he was not surprised by the appointment of Mr. Ojo as the education commissioner, however also appealed for a speedy completion of the on-going projects at the college of medicine to ensure the full accreditation of the college.
