EKSG To Partner Development Associations To Develop Communities

Ekiti State Government has said that it would continue to partner Development Association of each Community in the state to develop the rural areas.

The Commissioner for Rural Development and Community Empowerment, Mr. Folorunso Olabode made the assertion while playing host to the Executive members of the State Chapter of the Community Development Council in his office in Ado Ekiti.

Mr. Olabode said that the present administration will not deviate from its policy of ensuring proper consultation with the people before embarking on any rural project.

The Commissioner added that the state governor embarked on village meetings to identify the needs of each community in order to ensure proper siting of projects.

Noting that some government projects failed in the past due to lack of proper consultation, he urged Community Development Associations (CDAs) to always identify the needs of their respective communities.

Olabode also stressed the need for each community to monitor the execution of projects in their domain, adding that the gesture was necessary to avoid shoddy jobs.

According to him, CDAs must play a prominent role in the effort to banish poverty from the society, adding that the associations are like connecting rods between the communities and government.

He assured that the state government would continue to run an open-door policy, adding that useful suggestions and advice are always welcomed.

Earlier, the State Chairman of the Council, Chief Adeleye Fasubaa has described the creation of the ministry as a good development for rural dwellers.

Chief Fasubaa who agreed that the state government cannot do everything alone, assured of the support of the CDAs.
He said the creation of the ministry would go a long way in curbing rural-urban migration among the youths
