EKSG Collaborates With World Bank To Organise Training For Teachers In Rural Areas

Ekiti State Government, in collaboration with the World Bank, is organising training programmes for teachers in rural areas of the state.
The Commissioner for Education and Technology, Mr. Kehinde Ojo gave the hint in Ado Ekiti during a meeting he held with the members of the Executive Council of the state chapter of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT).

Mr. Ojo who described teachers as the key to positive change in the education of children, solicited for their cooperation in order to move education to an enviable position.

While charging them to redouble their efforts at impacting knowledge on children of school age, the Commissioner cautioned against the use of foul languages, late coming, indecent dressing, laziness and lawlessness which according to him can lower the standard of education.

Earlier, the NUT Chairman, Comrade Samuel Akosile lauded Governor Fayemi for appointing an experienced teacher who he described as a man of proven integrity as Commissioner for Education.
Comrade Akosile highlighted some of the challenges facing education sector to include inadequate instructional materials and dearth of teachers.
He also appealed for restoration of Teachers’ Peculiar Allowance of 27% and 5% of World Teachers Day transport allowance.
