The 7th free Health Mission of the Ekiti State Government kicks off today in thirteen out of the twenty–six constituencies in the state.

Addressing journalists in Ado Ekiti, the State Commissioner for Health, Professor Olusola Fasubaa noted that the proposed health mission which will gulp a sum of N70 million, is a tripartite partnership of the executive and the legislative arms as well as the Development Support Initiative (DSI).

Professor Fasubaa reiterated the commitment of the Fayemi led administration to provide free and qualitative health care for the vulnerable as enshrined in the 8-point agenda of the administration.
According to him, the objective of the health mission is to increase access to essential health services among the under served and vulnerable populations as well as compliment the health care services at the various Health facilities in the state.
The Commissioner added that the mission will also identify and address the specific health needs of the rural communities as well as serve as a stop-gap measure in Health Service delivery and jump start the rejuvenation of the PHC System.
Emphasising the easy accessibility of the Free Medical Missions to local communities, Fasubaa said the project provides more personalised care to the most vulnerable.

Professor Fasubaa highlighted the scope of services at the health mission to include general consultations, free medications, simple dental procedures as well as screening for hypertension and diabetes.
