Ekiti State Government is to collaborate with the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) in its effort to ensure that the people of the state live in a clean environment.
The State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Eniola Ajayi stated this while playing host to the Officials of the Agency who were on a courtesy visit to her in Ado-Ekiti.
Dr. Ajayi advised the Agency to keep her ministry abreast of its activities in order to facilitate a cordial working relationship towards achieving the same objectives.
Earlier, the State Coordinator of the Agency, Mr. Adeleke Ajani has intimated the Commissioner with the various awareness campaign that have been carried out by the Agency to enable people of the state key into the activities of the Agency.
Mr. Ajani explained that the Agency has been monitoring the activities of the quarry operators in the state to ensure that they obey the National guidelines on blasting of rocks by maintaining distance of 1,000 metres between the quarry and residential areas.
He noted that the Agency has been working with the Ekiti State Waste Management Board to ensure that people no longer drop waste into drainages to curtail flood and erosion.
