EKSG To Include More Indigent Elderly Citizens In Social Security Scheme – Ariyo

Ekiti State Commissioner for Labour, Productivity and Human Capital Development, Mr. Oluwole Ariyo has assured indigent elderly citizens in the state that are yet to benefit from the Social Security Scheme initiated by the Fayemi led administration that they will be included during the next enumeration exercise of the programme.

Speaking in Ado- Ekiti during a meeting with the newly appointed Executive Assistants on Community Development and Mobilization to Governor Kayode Fayemi in the 16 Local Government Councils, Mr. Ariyo noted that the scheme was designed to alleviate the financial burden of the indigent elderly people in the state.

The Commissioner stressed the commitment of the state government to improving the life expectancy rate of citizens of the state through its various transformational programmes.

Congratulating the Executive Assistants on their appointment, he urged them to work towards improving on the success recorded on the Social Security Scheme in their respective areas.

Mr. Ariyo urged them to monitor the payment of the allowances to the beneficiaries to ensure that the exercise is devoid of sharp practices, stressing that there will no more be payment by proxy as beneficiaries with ill-health and disabilities due to old age will henceforth be paid in their homes.

He stressed the need for the political appointees to be good ambassador of the state government, reminding them that they are representatives of Mr. Governor in their areas.
