Ekiti State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Mr. Paul Omotoso has charged contractors handling the 5 kilometre road projects in the 16 Local Government Areas of the state to continue to use high quality materials in order to ensure longevity and durability of the roads.
Speaking during an inspection tour of the 5-kilometre road projects in Efon, Ijero, Ekiti West and Ekiti South West local government areas, Mr. Omotoso said the projects were parts of the strategies of the Fayemi led administration to improve the standard of living of people at the grassroots and curb rural-urban drift in the state.
Noting that the project would also assist in reducing cost of transporting farm produce to the urban areas, the Commissioner stressed the resolve of the state government to leave no stone unturned in the effort at making life more meaningful for the people in the state.
Omotoso appealed to all stakeholders to avoid acts that are inimical to the durability of the roads, stressing the need to protect the roads from wilful damages including burning of tyres and blocking of drainages.
The Commissioner however assured that the second phase of the road projects will soon commence.
