Youth Corps Members who have just completed their National Service Programme in Ekiti State have been enjoined to be innovative in their  thinking and try their hands on productive ventures which will make them self reliant instead of roaming the streets to look for white collar jobs that are no longer available.

Governor Kayode Fayemi gave the charge in his address at the passing-out parade of the 2012 Batch ‘B’ Corps Members deployed to Ekiti State held at Christ School, Ado.

The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Prof. Modupe Adelabu noted that opportunities abound in many sectors of the economy such as agriculture, health, manufacturing etc waiting to be explored and exploited by the youths to their own advantage.
He advised them to take risks and obtain loans to embark on small or medium scale business enterprises reminding them that most people would succeed in small things if they were not trouble by indolence and wishful great ambitions.
The Governor also congratulated management of the NYSC, on the attainment of its 40 years of meaningful existence, adding that the Scheme has contributed tremendously to the development of the economy and peaceful co-existence of the many tribes that form Nigeria.

He noted that an aggregation of the services rendered by the NYSC Scheme over the years showed that such services have been efficient and selfless because the scheme is a nation building force and catalyst to remoulding characters among the Nigerian youths.
He said the state government will continue to complement the efforts of the scheme in every possible way and will not rest on its oars until NYSC Scheme in Ekiti State becomes the best in the country.

Certificates of National Service and State Merit Honour Awards were later presented by the governor to some of the Corps members who performed exceptionally well, among whom were, Dr. Nyeche Emmanuel Ovuday, Miss Adudmayebe Slohor and Mmonyi Chukwunonso Anthony who were the first, second and third best corps members of the batch respectively.
