Deputy Governor Lauds Women In Position Of Leadership

Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Prof. Modupe Adelabu has extolled the women occupying various political and civil service leadership positions in the state for living up to the tasks and challenges of their offices thereby making women folk proud.

Adelabu gave the commendation while hosting the Forum of Women in Leadership, a network of women occupying leadership positions in Ekiti State, led by the wife of the Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, in her office in Ado-Ekiti.

The Deputy Governor thanked the Forum for the visit adding that the forum has served as a developing network and source of building leadership traits while commending it for the free health screening for women carried out last year.

According to her, she took up the Deputy Governor appointment in faith and confidence because she was sure of God’s support and that of entire Ekiti women who she believed will always give her all necessary moral and spiritual backing.

She lauded the forum for being vigilant and making sure that capable and efficient women are given leadership roles in the state while tasking women in various political and civil service leadership position to strive for excellence in their domain, adding that this
will create more leadership positions for women whenever there are vacancies at the top.

Speaking earlier, the wife of the state Governor, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, who is also the Leader of the Forum, congratulated the Deputy Governor, Professor Modupe Adelabu for her well deserved appointment having shown the stuff she was made of and her sterling qualities while in the saddle as the Chairperson of the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB.

She explained Forum of Women in Leadership as an informal network of women who hold various leadership positions in the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi with the sole aim of promoting good governance and ensuring women in position do not jeopardize their health, even while working to contribute to the development of the state.

She said the forum organized a free health screening for women in leadership position at Lady Jibowu Hall, Government House Ground last year and a workshop in Nairobi, Kenya and that other similar programmes that are beneficial will be organized this year.

Erelu Fayemi who disclosed that the Deputy Governor, by the virtue of her position, is the co-convener of the Forum assured Professor Modupe Adelabu of the full support of the Forum and that of the entire Ekiti women in her new office.
