Wives of Local Government Caretaker Chairmen in Ekiti State have been urged to regard themselves as very critical to the success of their husbands in office and therefore give them all necessary supports they require to perform in office and make their homes comfortable and desirable places to live for their husbands.

The state Deputy Governor, Professor Modupe Adelabu made this call while playing host to the wives of the sixteen Local Government Caretaker Chairmen in Ekiti State who paid a courtesy visit to her office in Ado.

Making reference to the popular saying that “behind a successful man is a woman of substance”, she told them to always give their husbands plausible pieces of advice and be a ready source of comfort and encouragement to them whenever their husbands are overwhelmed by office challenges and are downcast.

She also advised the wives of the Caretaker Chairmen not to be so busy and overwhelmed by their office work as to neglect their primary domestic duties of taking care of their children and bringing them up in the way of the Lord, noting that failure in these primary assignment will turn to naught whatever achievement they make in other areas.

The Deputy Governor, who urged the women to see themselves as agents of the government at their various local government areas, enjoined them to spread the good news of what Governor Kayode Fayemi is doing in the state at the grassroots.

While charging them to mobilize women to vote for Governor Fayemi in the next year election, Adelabu also implored them to sensitize and encourage women of proven integrity and strong will to vie for political leadership positions so that more women could come on board governance and make further contribution to the development of Ekiti.

Speaking earlier, the leader of the Wives of the Council Chairmen, who is also the wife of the Efon Local Government Caretaker Chairman, Mrs. Modupe Adio Folayan congratulated Professor Modupe Adelabu on her appointment as the Deputy Governor and thanked Governor Kayode Fayemi for appointing one of their own folk.

She said the wives of council chairmen in Ekiti were proud to associate themselves with Professor Adelabu whom she described as a high flier in various fields of human endeavors and a mother to all in character and in action.

Mrs. Afolayan Adio also commended the good works the administration of Governor Fayemi is doing, particular at the grassroots and for gender sensitive policy and programmes of the government which have resulted into the  emancipation of women from doldrums of poverty and neglect.

While pledging the continuous support of the wives of the council chairmen and that of the grassroots women to Governor Kayode Fayemi at all time, Modupe Afolayan said they are ready to work for the government and as well be domestic pillar for their husbands to succeed in their offices.
