Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has congratulated the Muslim faithful  in the state on the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, celebration of  Eid- El- Fitri.
The Governor in his Sallah message to the people of the state urged Muslims to continue with the spirit of love, joy and good neighbourliness that characterised the holy month of Ramadan.

The Governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Olayinka Oyebode, said the spiritual renewal and rejuvenation gained by Muslims during the month of Ramadan would engender a better relationship with the Almighty Allah.

He equally used the opportunity to enjoin Nigerians irrespective of their religious beliefs to live together in peace and tolerate one another as preached by the major religions. The Governor also called for a halt to violence and killings being witnessed in some parts of the country stressing that no religion sanctions unlawful killing of people.

The Governor   reassured the people of the state of the readiness of his administration to preserve the peace, tranquility  and religious harmony in the state.

He commended Muslims for living in peace with adherents of other religions noting that the prevailing peace being enjoyed in the state has assisted his administration to record success in virtually all sectors.

He noted that prayers offered by Muslims had assisted his administration in no small measure promising to always partner with adherents of the Islamic faith in the efforts to take Ekiti to greater heights.

Dr. Fayemi said, “We give glory to Allah for his infinite mercies and benevolence which saw  us through the 30-day fasting, a period of self-denial, sacrifice and total submission to the will of God.

“As we celebrate this glorious moment, it is my hope that we would, individually and collectively-as the faithful-reflect on its significance to us in our individual endeavours and as a state.

“We should always allow the lessons learnt in the Ramadan period to always guide us in our day-to-day activities for us to please our Creator and be a blessing to other people we come in contact with daily.

“My dear brothers and sisters in Islam, I am happy that the holy month of Ramadan in our dear state was observed with the highest regards for peace, love and brotherliness as stipulated by the Holy Qur’an. My prayer is that God will reward our obedience and submission to His will”.
