With a charge to justify their re-appointment by working hard to consolidate on the various achievements recorded at the grassroots, 16 caretaker committee chairmen yesterday got a new mandate from Ekiti State Governor to manage the affairs of council areas in the state.
They were inaugurated yesterday by the Deputy Governor, Prof Modupe Adeola Adelabu, at Jibowu Hall, Government House Ground.
The deputy governor urged the council helmsmen to give priority to the 8-Point Agenda of the state government in the discharge of their duties. Prof. Adelabu, who commended the caretaker chairmen for their feats in the past six months, urged them to see their re-appointment as a renewed call to service, saying they should imbibe the spirit of transparency, accountability and probity, which she noted have been the hallmarks of the Governor Kayode Fayemi administration.
The deputy governor government will continue to embark on programmes aimed at improving the welfare of the people and launch the state to enviable pedestal.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues, the caretaker chairman of Efon Local Government Area, Mr. Adio Folayan, described the renewal of their mandate and swearing in as an epoch making event and another landmark in the political history of the state. He thanked the governor for their re-appoint which he described as an opportunity for them to complete and consolidate the good work they have started.
The council chief promised that all the chairmen will work more assiduously in line with the administration’s 8-Point Agenda and ensure the delivery of more dividends of democracy at the grassroots.
