Ekiti State Government has announced the appointment of Mr. Micheal Afeniforo as the new Administrative Secretary for the Central Internal Audit Office for government MDAs in the state.
Mr. Afeniforo succeeds Mrs. Oluwayemisi Owolabi, the pioneer Administrative Secretary of the office who was recently appointed as Permanent Secretary.
The State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Dapo Kolawole who made this known in Ado Ekiti, recalled that the state government recently established a Central Internal Audit Office for government MDAs in the state as part of efforts at enhancing efficiency, accountability and transparency in government expenditure.
Mr. Kolawole explained said that the Central Internal Audit office which is autonomous and a separate entity from the office of the Accountant General, is currently headed by the Administrative Secretary.
The Commissioner said the CIA office however has a Governing Committee comprising of the State Commissioner for Finance as chairman and the Permanent Secretaries of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Office of the Establishment and Training, Ministry of Justice and the state Accountant General as members.
Elucidating on the new arrangement, the Commissioner said that the central office is divided into four main departments of Report and Evaluation, Monitoring and Inspectorate, Finance and Accounts as well as the Administration and Supplies.
According to him, the CIA has an office in each of the MDAs that is headed by an Auditor who is answerable to the Administrative Secretary at the central office.
He added that the Administrative Secretary is responsible for the
general administration of the office of the Central Internal Audit
stressing that he supervises and coordinates all the operational
activities of Internal Auditors in all MDAs.
