South West Integration For Development, Not Politics – Afuye

Ekiti State Commissioner for Integration and Intergovernmental Affairs, Hon. Funminiyi Afuye has said that the south West Integration was not conceived to play politics but to boost development of the region.

Featuring on a NTA Ado-Ekiti Current Affairs Programme, “In the saddle”, Hon Afuye noted that the country witnessed more development while operating a regional system.

The Commissioner particularly acknowledged level of the development experienced in the South West under the leadership of late Chief Obafemi Awolowo adding that the achievements of leaders of the other regions were also phenomenon.

He said that in view of the historical antecedents, regional arrangement is more appropriate in achieving good governance for qualitative development of the country.

Afuye highlighted areas of cooperation of the South West state under the regional integration arrangement to include education, road network, industrialization and electric power supply.

On the peer review mechanism of the regional integration, the Commissioner said that other states in the South West have replicated the Ekiti state Social Security Scheme while Ekiti has also share some programmes from other States.
