Ohanaeze South-West Zone has called on other governors in the country to emulate Governor Kayode Fayemi’s detribalised style of leadership.
Speaking during the maiden inauguration of Ohanaeze Ndigbo South-West executives and the launch of N100 million youth education endowement fund at Ado-Ekiti, the president of ohanaeze Ndigbo South-West, Prince Nathaniel Uzoma said that Dr Kayode Fayemi, by his system of leadership has always demonstrated the spirit of one Nigeria by appointing Igbo sons and daughters and people from other ethnic groups into his cabinet.
He implored other state governors to borrow a leaf from Ekiti State as that was the only way to ensure unity of the country.
Prince Uzoma said that the Igbo in Ekiti State feel at home because of the conducive environment which the governor has provided in the state.
On the youth education endowment fund, he said the objective was to provide quality education for indigent Igbo youths.
According to him, the major reason some Igbo youths go into trading and other vocations was because they lacked the wherewithal to have qualitative education.
He said that the endowment fund will begin the process of changing the notion that Igbo were obsessed with trading.
“We, therefore, appeal to all and sundry to support this vision of youth education endowment aimed at helping our children, who possess the knowledge and skill but lack the wherewithal to go to the university.
In his response, Dr Fayemi commended the developmental and entrepreneurial spirit of the Igbo.
According to him, anywhere Igbo go, they bring development to the place.
