Ekiti Commissioner Charges Indigent Senior Citizens to Register in Social Security Scheme

Ekiti State Commissioner for Labour, Productivity and Human Capital Development, Mr. Oluwole Ariyo has charged indigent elderly citizens above the age of 65 to take advantage of government gesture to make life meaningful for them by registering their names as beneficiaries of the social security scheme in the state.
Speaking while monitoring disbursement of the monthly stipends to beneficiaries of the Social Security Scheme at Epe Ekiti in Moba Local Government Area, Mr. Ariyo stressed that only those who were physically present at the registration points would benefit from the scheme.
The Commissioner noted that all qualified indigent elderly people in the state that registered in the scheme are currently benefiting from the scheme, adding that an additional 5,000 elderly people are
expected to join the scheme at the end of the on-going enumeration exercise.
In his remarks, the Elepe of Epe Ekiti in Moba Local Government Area, Oba Olakanye Atolagbe expressed gratitude to the state government for efforts at improving the lots of the elderly in the state.
Oba Atolagbe who pledged the continued support of his community for the success of the present administration, appealed for an increase in the number of beneficiaries of the social security scheme.
85 year old Mr. Olaniyan Ibidunmoye and 80 year old Mrs. Babatunde Comfort who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries in the area, described the N5,000 monthly stipends as a life – saver and a very noble gesture.
