Fayemi Condemns Killing Of Students In Yobe

Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has expressed shock on the massacre of students at Federal Government College, Buni Yadi, Yobe State on Tuesday by suspected terrorists.

The Governor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, described the mass slaughter of innocent students as ungodly, barbaric, brutal, animalistic and inhuman.

Dr. Fayemi regretted the gory treatment meted out to leaders of tomorrow who were killed where they had gone to acquire knowledge they needed to be useful to the society.

He urged the authorities concerned to investigate the circumstances surrounding the withdrawal of soldiers from the community few hours before the gunmen struck.

The Governor opined that three previous attacks carried out on schools in the state ought to have put the military on red alert to prevent a re-occurrence.

He noted that failure to apprehend culprits who carried out similar attacks in the past encouraged them to launch future attacks in the future.

Dr. Fayemi advocated improvement of intelligence gathering by relevant security agencies to prevent a reoccurrence in the future saying those behind the killings are not ghosts but human beings made up of flesh and blood.

He also commiserated with Governor Ibrahim Gaidam, families of the students killed and the entire people of Yobe State on the incident.
