HOS Warns Ekiti Workers Against Partisan Politics

The Head of Service of Ekiti State, Mr. Olubunmi Famosaya has warned Civil Servants against participating in partisan politics.

Mr. Famosaya who gave the warning in his address at the Press briefing in commemoration of the Year 2012 Civil Service Week, said anyone caught would be shown the way out of the Service.

The HOS added that a code of conduct would soon be rolled out to address the conduct of Civil Servants, stressing the need for workers to pay particular attention to political neutrality, anonymity, loyalty, honesty, impartiality and ordered line of communication.

According to him, the aim of on-going Civil Service reforms in the State is to enhance efficient and effective performance or operations of the service stressing that it is not to witch-hunt.

He said that the State Executive Council has approved a review edition of the Civil Service rules that has a significant feature of being applicable to the entire Pubic Service.

Mr. Famosaya who noted that the Fayemi led administration approved N19, 300 as minimum wage in the course of the year, assured that the administration would continue to ensure a conducive atmosphere for Civil Servants to realize their full potentials.

He disclosed that one hundred and ninety-six junior officers who acquired higher or additional certificates between 2008 and 2010 were converted or advanced as appropriate while similar cases of those in the senior cadres were being processed.

The HOS emphasised that merit –based appointments and promotions which made passing examination a condition for any appointment formed a critical part of the reforms that were introduced by the Civil Service Transformation Strategy.

While commending the workers for what he described as their courage, loyalty and commitment to Quality Service Delivery, Mr. Famosaya noted that the various projects Commissioned and launched during the anniversary indicated conspicuously that Civil Servants in the state were working.

Famosaya however said there was room for improvement and enjoined the workers to redouble their efforts in the New Year.

Programmes slated for the week include an interactive forum by the Head of Service with workers on Tuesday, a novelty football match on Thursday and a dinner/award ceremony to round off the events on Friday December 21, 2012.
