Independent Projects Monitoring Office (IPMO)

The Independent Project Monitoring Office (IPMO) was created with Circular number EK/HS/314T/02 of 9th August, 2023 by H.E Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to monitor all capital projects in the State, Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs)

The Office (IPMO) is responsible for monitoring and evaluating all government capital projects with a view to ensuring that these projects are executed efficiently, effectively, and within set timelines and budgets in order to ensure transparency, accountability, value for money spent on projects and contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of public infrastructure development in the State. The office is under the Governor`s Office and reports directly to H.E the Governor via its Political Head; Special Adviser to the Governor on IPMO who is a cabinet rank.  IPMO can be officially communicated via ipmo@ekitistate.gov.ng or its X (formerly Twitter) account @ipmo_EKSG

*IPMO Team inspects ongoing construction fly over in Ekiti, assures quality!*

 

The Independent Project Monitoring Office,  (IPMO) Governor’s Office, under the leadership of Hon Olufemi Ajayi, Special Adviser to the Governor, IPMO monitored the ongoing 1km overhead bridge construction on Tuesday 25th June, 2024.

 

The Monitoring Team of IPMO, Governor’s Office, led by the Special Adviser in comapny of  the Admin Secretary of the Office: Mr Segun Adebayo and some Senior Special Assistants to the Governor (SSAs) together with IPMO Professionals/ Technical Staff deployed  non-distructive technological monitoring equipment to test the quality and strenght of the concrete, basement and reinforcement already constructed by the company handling the project.

 

Also, construction materials deposited at the company’s yard were tested with IPMO technological monitoring equipment to ensure adherence to specifications and standards. The representative of the contractor, engineers from the Ministry of Works and the Consultant for the project, were on the ground to receive the IPMO Team

 

In line with the mandate of IPMO in ensuring effective and efficient execution of projects so that there will be value for money spent on capital projects in the State and LGs, the monitoring of the project will be a continuous exercise so that quality will be maintained throughout the stages of  construction of the project in line with the shared prosperity agenda of H.E the Governor.

Based on the statutory roles of the IPMO, its mission and vision are as follows:

Vision: To ensure judicious, effective and efficient execution of capital projects in order to have value for money on capital projects in Ekiti State

Mission: Regular monitoring and evaluation of capital projects in MDAs and Local Governments/Local Council Development Areas as well as comprehensive assessment of project performance and associated risk.

IPMO is structured to be an Independent office reporting regularly and directly, to H.E the Governor.

  1. An appointee of the Governor; A Special Adviser-IPMO, who is a cabinet rank is the Chief Executive Officer.
  2. IPMO Secretary is the Administrative Head and the accounting officer who supervises all professionals and technical staff in the office.
  3. There are also three (3) Senior Special Assistants to the Governor on Project Monitoring (One per Senatorial District- North, South and Central)
  4. Administration/Support Staff
  5. Professionals/Technical Staff (Building, Civil, Electrical and Mechanical)

The key activities of IPMO include:

  1. Project monitoring and evaluation
  2. Risk assessment
  • Performance audit
  1. Regular/periodic report on all ongoing capital projects
  2. Project implementation assessment
  3. Documenting and documentation of ongoing capital projects
  • Interface with implementing MDAs and necessary project stakeholders
  • Regular inspection of ongoing project in State MDAs, LGs and LCDAs
