Ekiti, 12 Other States To Benefit From National Urban Water Project

May 19, 2013

Ekiti State has been selected as one of the twelve states of the Federation to benefit from the National Urban Water and Sanitation Reform Programme (NURSRP3) under which pipe-borne water will be provided to 52,000 residents of the state capital, Ado-Ekiti as well as 70,000 other citizens in some selected communities in the state.
Other benefitting states alongside Ekiti in the NURSRP3 programme are Rivers, Bauchi, Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Ondo, Benue, Plateau, Gombe, Jigawa and Kano states.

The main objective of the project is to enhance the capacity of the state to provide economically viable water supply through institutional strengthening and optional involvement of private partners in the urban water supply.

The project will also fast track a strategic approach in the transformation of the water way supply services and make water available in some defined sections of Ado and the University town of Iworoko.

The National Urban Water 3 will also reduce the incidences of water borne disease among the people and transform the state’s Water Corporation into an efficient, customer oriented, independent and well managed organisation.
