Task Force On Polio Eradication Swings Into Action

A 15-member task force on polio eradication has been put in place by the Ekiti State Government has swung into action.

The Permanent Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Mrs. Folakemi Falore  who made this known during  a meeting with Local Immunisation Officers from the 16 Local Government Areas of the State said the  members of the task force were already working towards ensuring 100% coverage during the next round of immunization in the state.  The Immunization task force will be replicated in the 16 council areas of the state.

Mrs. Falore appealed to the officers to rededicate themselves to the service of the State adding that the Fayemi-Administration is passionately committed to the establishment of health centres in all localities with a population of 5,000 people or more.

The Permanent Secretary who said that the meeting was imperative to enable the Agency review the profile of the recent immunisation exercise in the State with a view to knowing the level of success and challenges of the exercise ..

According to her, the State Government would leave no stone unturned to ensure that maternal and infant mortality is reduced to its barest minimum in the State.

While acknowledging the fact that the state is currently polio – free, Mrs. Falore explained that the task force put in place by Government will come out with pro – active recommendations that will enable the state to maintain its polio – free status.

The Primary Health Care Development Agency boss announced that primary health care centres in the state would continually be strengthened with the provision of well trained medical personnel and state-of-the-art equipment to enhance the successful implementation of the Free Health Mission of the Fayemi Administration.
